Residents who moved to Brampton after January 1, 2014 are invited to see and explore the city through ticketed bus tours between August 22-24.

The program has been in operation since 2009 through a partnership between the City Recreation division, Brampton Transit and Brampton Library. Back in March, the Newcomer Bus Tour received the Upstart Innovation Award from the American Library Association, which recognizes creative and innovative library programs.

During the three-hour tour, which is available by registration, participants will: visit a community centre to learn about recreation opportunities and facility amenities; explore one of six library branches to discover the diverse resources available and how to access them; ride a Brampton Transit bus and receive a hands-on workshop about Brampton’s transit map, the advantages of PRESTO fare cards and when riders need a transfer.

The tours are meant to be informative and entertaining, with quizzes and prizes along the way to keep things educational and fun.

For more information and to register, contact the Brampton Library at 905.793.4636 or visit any Brampton library branch or check www.brampton.ca/recreation.
