Prepare to be both enchanted and energized as the Mississauga Symphony Orchestra (MSO) presents a musical tribute to the historical city of Rome. The MSO’s upcoming season finale gala, “Roman Festival”, will entertain you with a selection of masterpieces by some of the great Italian composers.

Pieces included in the concert’s repertoire are Antonio Vivaldi’s Spring from The Four Seasons, Alessandro Marcello’s Concerto for Oboe, Gioachino Rossini’s Variations for Clarinet and Ennio Morricone’s Theme from Cinema Paradiso. In keeping with the theme of the evening, Ottorino Respighi’s Feste Romane will also be featured as an elaborate interpretation of the Roman folk festivals. With performances ranging from Vivaldi’s Baroque-styled masterpiece written in the early 1700s to Morricone’s 1988 movie theme song, the evening is sure to be an exciting journey through centuries of symphonic musical styles.

Guest artists are violinist Corey Gemmel, oboist Karen Rotenberg, and clarinetist Mike Dassios.

The concert experience will include a chance to “Meet the Maestro” during a pre-concert discussion in the Atrium starting at 7 pm. Maestro Denis Mastromonaco is now in his third season directing the MSO and has had over 20 years experience working with orchestras both nationally and internationally. The pre-concert chat is an opportunity to hear Maestro Mastromonaco share highlights of the concert to follow.
