On Saturday, July 1, 2017, the Living Arts Centre will be hosting Canada Day celebrations from 12-4pm. This fun-filled day will celebrate Canada’s anniversary and highlight First Nations traditions and the diversity that newcomers bring to our communities. It’s the perfect way for the whole family to celebrate Canada Day.
Get craftsy and creative with your kids at the LAC’s Creative Zones and make Canada-themed art projects to take home as souvenirs. Don’t forget to stop by the Ceramics, Potters Wheel and Glass Arts demonstrations by LAC instructors around the building too. After dabbling in the visual arts, try your hand at a dance workshop with Gadfly or Shiamak in RBC Theatre and feel the groove with these talented dance companies.
Need to wind down? Enjoy free performances on the community stage and outside on the Live Restaurant Patio from a variety of esteemed local arts and music organizations, including Mississauga Chinese Arts Organization, Mississauga Big Band, Peel Aboriginal Network, SyCa Band, Shaan Punjab Dee and more!
Storyteller Sandra Whiting will also join in the Canada Day celebrations; her interactive tales always leave audiences – children and adults alike – wanting more. Grab a snack, take a seat, and be transported to fantasies beyond your dreams!
Of course, it wouldn’t be Canada Day without celebratory food and goodies. As usual, the LAC’s lobby bar will be open for snacks and beverages. There will be two food trucks and ice cream carts on-site to satisfy all your cravings, as well as a huge tear-away cupcake platter!
The Living Arts Centre can’t wait for you, your friends and family to come on down and celebrate this exciting day! Remember, they have free parking available on the day off.
