Brampton residents will have a chance to discuss strategies for upgrading older community centres at three upcoming public meetings.

The focus will be on plans to revitalize or build a new facility at Howden Community Centre, expanding and renovating Balmoral Community Centre, and expanding Chris Gibson Recreation Centre to include adding a hockey rink.

The initiatives are part of the Brampton Parks and Recreation Master Plan, developed last year, that outlines a long-term strategy for the city. The plan was developed through consultation with residents, community groups and businesses.

“Brampton’s neighbourhood recreation centres play an important role in the local community and residents have been eager to see these aging facilities updated,” said Mayor Linda Jeffrey.

The sessions will take place:

  • April 3, 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Chris Gibson Recreation Centre auditorium
  • April 4, 6-8 p.m. at Chinguacousy Park Ski Chalet lower lounge
  • April 5, 6-8 p.m. at Howden Recreation Centre upstairs lounge

Future meetings will look at revitalization at recreation centres in the Bramalea area.
