Arrests made in Peel’s 16th homicide of the year

Homicide and Missing Persons Bureau investigators have made arrests in the region’s 16th murder of the year.

At approximately 6 p.m. on July 16, officers responded to a residence on Donwoods Court in the City of Brampton. A victim, suffering from obvious signs of trauma, was pronounced dead at the scene. He has been identified as 27-year-old Palwinder Singh of Brampton.

On July 16, police investigators arrested two males: 18-year-old Sean Ponto and 19-year-old Andrew Edward, both of Mississauga. A Canada-wide arrest warrant was previously issued for the arrest of 18-year-old Nebill Albayaty of Toronto.

On July 23, investigators located Albayaty at a Hamilton hotel, where he was arrested. A fourth outstanding suspect, in the company of Albayaty, was also arrested.

Hamas Khan, an 18-year-old male from Mississauga, was charged with first-degree murder. Both Albayaty and Khan appeared in court on July 23.

Peel Regional Police homicide investigators believe all four persons responsible for the murder have now been apprehended.
