The City of Brampton has received the Canadian Award for Excellence in Financial Reporting in recognition of the City’s 2017 Annual Financial Report for the 17th consecutive year,
This award is an initiative of the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States and Canada.
To qualify for the award, the City had to exceed the minimum requirements of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), as set by the Public Sector Accounting Board (PSAB) of the Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) of Canada and prepare comprehensive and high-quality annual financial reporting, rooted in the spirit of transparency and full disclosure.
“Our taxpayers expect nothing less of us than full transparency and sound financial practices. Winning the prestigious GFOA award for financial reporting affirms our commitment to our citizens and strengthens our image as we continue to attract national and international investments to Brampton” says Mayor Patrick Brown.
