The City of Brampton’s approved operating and capital budgets 2018-2020 has received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada.
It’s the organization’s highest level of recognition for governmental budgeting. The city had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. The guidelines assess how well the budget plan serves as a policy document, financial plan, operations guide and a communications vehicle. This year marks the third consecutive time the city applied for and received the award.
“Receiving the prestigious award is yet another testament of our commitment to transparency and foresight in planning for Brampton’s future,” said Mayor Linda Jeffrey. “As one of Canada’s youngest and most diverse cities, Brampton’s Budget 2018-2020 focuses on improving quality of living and investing in key strategic priorities for stronger economic prospects and growth.”
“We remain steadfast on modernizing our corporation and enhancing the way we work to serve our residents more efficiently,” added Harry Schlange, city CAO. “Public input and transparency were key driving factors of our budget process, in addition to our commitment to meeting our financial obligations. We will continue to achieve excellence for our operations across the City of Brampton.”
