Epic Eagles top a month long party at the Garden Square

Every Friday, all summer long, Garden Square becomes an old school street party for all of Brampton to enjoy. The lineup ranges in musical style from week to week featuring jazz, rock, hip-hop, indie, and rap.

What each show has in common is that the performers are either among the country’s most respected tribute musicians or the music industry’s noted rising stars. Each evening starts at 7PM with a DJ. The opening act starts at 8PM, and the headliner hits the stage at 9PM.

This August kicks off with Skye Wallace opening for Toronto Pop/Rock Quiartet Jane’s Party on August 8. Wallace is a trained singer with east coast roots who discovered punk rock in her youth, while Jane’s Party hallmarks are breezy riffs and lush vocal harmonies.

August 15 brings For Esmé, an unabashedly feminist exploration of self-love and the courage of conviction in uncertain times opening for electronic/pop singer T. Thomason.

The summer comes to a close on August 30 at the square with Toronto-based Garage Rock band Fade Awaays and the Canadian/Irish, soul/pop collaboration, Romes.

Perhaps the most interesting lineup of the summer comes when Friday Night Live combines with the Party in the Lanes for a mega street party on August 23.

Party in the Lanes takes over McArter Lane (27 Main Street North), Daily Times Square (33 Queen St. West), and George St. South along with the music at Garden Square for the evening from 6-10P.M. The laneways will be transformed into lively street parties featuring live bands, Latin dance lessons, local vendors, and more.

40 year veteran of media, and current BOOM 97.3 personality, Jeff Chalmers is the DJ on this special night that culminates in a performance from Epic Eagles, the country’s leading Eagles tribute band.

A representative for the band reports that Epic Eagles are excited to perform in Brampton again, especially because it’s the hometown of their drummer, Jeff Salem. The audience in the square can expect to hear the greatest hits of both Eagles and Don Henley, such as: Hotel California, One of These Nights, Life in the Fast Lane, Desperado, Take It Easy, New York Minute, Boys of Summer, and many more.
