Marathon takes over Mississauga streets this weekend

 

Runners will fill the streets of Mississauga this weekend for the 15th annual edition of the Mississauga Marathon.

Activities commence Friday, May 3 with a Health & Wellness Expo at Port Credit Memorial Arena which features 30 exhibitors which runs from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and again on May 4 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

On Saturday, May 4 a 5 km run begins at 6 p.m. followed by a 10 km run at 6:30 p.m. Both begin on Lakeshore Rd. in Port Credit.

Sunday, May 5 will see the full 42 km marathon starting at 7:30 a.m. at Mississauga City Hall and ending at Lakefront Promenade Park. The half marathon will begin at the same time but follow a different route.

Sunday’s marathon will take place largely in the west end and along the lakefront with road closures taking place at various locations as the runners move along the route.

People are encouraged to cheer the runners along with plenty of viewing spaces located along city sidewalks. Shuttle buses will be available throughout the weekend for spectators. More information can be found at mississaugamarathon.com.
