The City of Mississauga has selected Mark Rodrigues as the new director of internal audit effective immediately.
“I am pleased to have Mark join our extended leadership team as our newest director,” said Janice Baker, City Manager and Chief Administrative Officer. “Mark brings extensive knowledge and experience in finance and audit to oversee the business functions of the City of Mississauga’s Internal Audit Division.”
Mark has a longstanding career in the private and public sectors, most recently as the Director of Internal Audit and Enterprise Risk Management for the Technical Standards and Safety Authority, an agency of the Province of Ontario. He began in finance and audit and spent a large part of his career with George Weston Limited and Loblaw Companies Limited where he grew into the roles of Vice President, Internal Audit Services and Vice President, Internal Control Compliance. He has also held similar senior roles with Sony of Canada Ltd. and Cara Operations Ltd.
Reporting to the City Manager and Chief Administrative Officer, Mark will be responsible for managing all business functions of the Internal Audit Division as well as assessing the city’s risk management, control and governance processes as required by both the City of Mississauga’s Internal Audit Charter, policies and procedures and external professional standards for auditing and risk management.
Mark is a long-time resident of Mississauga and a graduate of University of Western Ontario with a Bachelor of Arts, Economics, and is Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), Chartered Accountant (CA), a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), and has a Certification in Risk Management Assurance.
