The call is out to all emerging music artists to help shine a spotlight on the ‘This is Brampton” showcase. The deadline to apply is April 27.
On the heels of a Grammy win for Alessia Cara, a Juno Award for Jessie Reyez and the Brampton’s Arts Walk of Fame induction of notables Exco Levi and Hotline Bling’s Director X, Brampton continues to forge its way onto the global music scene as a hotbed for emerging talent. The City of Brampton announced its participation in the world-leading music festival, North by Northeast (NXNE) in a first-ever partnership to spotlight some of the most exciting and budding artists who call the city home.
“This is Brampton” will take over Toronto’s iconic live music venue at the Rivoli (334 Queen St. W., Toronto) on June 15 as part of NXNE. The City of Brampton is calling on all local musicians, recording artists and bands to participate in the showcase and the opportunity to gain valuable exposure that could help catapult their music careers to the next level and join in the celebration of Brampton-pride. “This is Brampton” will be a feature of NXNE’s Tastemaker Series 2018, a set of shows programmed by Canadian music personalities, digital influencers, industry leaders, provincial, municipal and national music associations, industry associations, record labels and more.
Recording artists and bands across all genres are invited to submit an application to firstname.lastname@example.org by 4 p.m. on April 27. A panel of the GTA’s music tastemakers will curate submissions and successful applicants only will be contacted in mid-May.
Tickets and wristbands for the showcase are available at nxne.com.
