Two of William Osler Health System’s leading physicians have received Brampton Board of Trade’s ‘Top 40 Under 40’ Award in recognition of their contribution to the local community.
Dr Tajinder Kaura is an emergency medicine physician at Osler’s Brampton Civic Hospital. Dr Kaura treats Brampton residents of all ages facing complex, chronic and life-threatening illnesses. Driven by his passion for preventative medicine and community outreach, Dr. Kaura helped advance the Healthy Communities Initiative, a collaborative health promotion project which educates residents about the importance of healthy eating and physical activity.
Dr. Brandon Sheffield is an anatomic pathologist at Osler. Through his leadership, the hospital introduced in-house biomarker testing, enabling Brampton residents facing a cancer diagnosis to get faster test results and earlier cancer treatment.
“It’s exciting to see these physicians recognized for the important role they play in delivering on Osler’s Vision of ‘patient-inspired health care without boundaries,” said Dr Frank Martino, Chief of Staff, William Osler Health System. “Dr Kaura and Dr Sheffield are leading physicians in their respective fields, and we are so fortunate to count them as part of the Osler family.”
Marilyn Verghis, Health Equity and Inclusion Specialist at Osler, also received a Top 40 Under 40 Award. Marilyn was recognized for her work in engaging students and young professionals in the community.
