Patrick Brown returned to politics in a big way, taking Brampton by storm and sending mayor Linda Jeffrey to defeat. Brown was never supposed to be part of the mayoral landscape until the province interrupted his planned comeback bid to become Regional Chair. The cancelling of that race led Brown to re-engage the public at the last minute and jump into the Brampton mayoral race.
Whatever faults Brown is accused of having, they were of no mind to the close to 46,000 voters who marked their ballots for Brown. Despite critic protestations that he didn’t bring a cohesive plan to the table, the former provincial PC leader and now mayor-elect of Brampton clearly has the faith of many taking 44 per cent of the votes to Jeffrey’s almost-forty-one percent in the race.
