Investigators from the 12 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau are currently investigating a string of jewellery distraction thefts.
On Monday, January 14, 2019, at approximately 12:25 p.m., a 62 year old male victim was in the area of Erin Mills Parkway and Eglinton Avenue West in Mississauga when he was approached by a male and female suspect asking for directions to the hospital. The female suspect would then show the victim jewellery and place the jewellery on him. Both suspects then left in a white vehicle. The victim later realized that his own jewellery was missing.
That same day at approximately 4:00 p.m., a 75 year old female victim was in the area of Mclaughlin Road and Matheson Boulevard in Mississauga when she was approached by a female suspect asking for directions to the hospital. The female suspect showed the victim jewellery and placed the jewellery on her. The female suspect then left in a black car that had a male and small child inside. The victim later realized that her own jewellery was missing.
The male suspect is described as middle eastern, light complexion, 5’5”, medium build, in his 30’s, short brown hair, unshaven brown beard and moustache.
The female suspect is described as middle eastern, light complexion, in her 50’s with her head covered with a scarf.
Police are reminding the public to report any suspicious activity. If these suspects are seen, please do not approach, call police immediately.
