When the 2018 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship opens on Boxing Day, two players from Peel Region will be part of Canada’s squad.

Michael McLeod, the Mississauga-born forward who plays for the Mississauga Steelheads of the Ontario Hockey League, and Taylor Raddysh, a Caledon native who plays for the Erie Otters of the OHL, will be part of the team. The two are among seven players who played for Canada in last year’s tournament.

Both were part of last year’s squad, which suffered a tough 5-4 shootout loss to the United States in the gold-medal game.

The tournament runs through Jan. 5 in Buffalo.
