Smart City idea jam focused on using technology to build an accessible and inclusive Mississauga

On Saturday, November 30, the City of Mississauga hosted the SMRTCTY Idea Jam in collaboration with Mississauga Library. The event focused on engaging the community to develop creative ideas using technology to make the City’s services more accessible and inclusive.

The SMRTCTY Idea Jam featured speakers and a brainstorming workshop that were open to the public. The talks included topics on technology, accessibility and inclusion at the City, highlighted by keynote speaker Ricardo Wagner, Microsoft Accessibility Lead.

The idea jam workshop offered participants a chance to work on the challenge of building an accessible and inclusive city. Participants teams developed solutions to the challenge with mentorship from industry professionals and instructors. At the end of the event, teams pitched their ideas to a panel of judges and prizes were awarded to the top entries.

Providing information and inspiration were booths from MicrosoftCNIBICUBE UTMHackernest MississaugaEDGE Sheridan CollegeESRI and RICC.
