Election campaigns for student trustees who will sit on the Peel District School Board are now underway. Two trustees will be chosen by students throughout Peel’s public school system to represent electoral districts above and below Highway 401.
Fourteen candidates in each district are in the running for the 2018-2019 school year term, which begins this fall.
The role of a trustee is to serve as a student voice at the board table as well as keeping classmates informed about the decisions that affect them. Student trustees have full and active roles during board and committee meetings but their vote is non-binding in decision making.
Campaign videos are now accessible on the board website, here.
The campaigns continue until April 16. Students cast their ballots on April 17 or 18, depending on location. The elected trustees will be announced at the board meeting on April 24.
