Hundreds of residents will help fight hunger and support local food banks during the ‘Twas The Bite Before Christmas dinner, at the Oasis Convention Centre in south Mississauga. This year, the annual fundraising event celebrates its 10th anniversary.
The dinner has dramatically grown over the years, says event chair Dan Meadowcroft.
“It all started with a group of volunteers sitting around a table and has grown to become one of south Mississauga’s premier fundraising events,” he said. “The community comes together through a series of events every year and this year’s response has been phenomenal.”
Proceeds from the event will go toward The Mississauga Food Bank and the Compass Food Bank in Port Credit, with non-perishable donations being accepted throughout the campaign.
The festivities will kick off, on Nov. 26, with Ladies’ Night, which will be held at POSTA Italbar Cucina (31 Lakeshore Rd. E.) from 6-9 p.m. and feature special guests, networking opportunities, a cash bar and door prizes. Tickets are $25.
On Dec. 2, Roc’n Doc’s will host the Bite’s annual launch party, featuring live music from Chuck Jackson and the All-Stars, along with surprise guests and much more. The event runs from 4:30-8:30 p.m. and admission is $5 per person. Food donations will be accepted in lieu of the cash admission.
The sold-out flagship turkey dinner takes place on Dec. 4, with live entertainment from Newstalk Sauga radio host Mike Bullard and guests. More than 600 participants will enjoy a full holiday dinner served up by local community advocates and dignitaries.
“Mike has been an important part of the development of the dinner over the years and we’re looking forward to his unique brand of comedy,” says Meadowcroft.
On Dec. 10, Cabin Barber and Gentlemen Supply (504 Lakeshore Rd. E.) will host Bad Hombres, with honorary chair Stephen Dasko, Ward 1 councillor-elect. From 6-9:30 p.m., the event features wine, whiskey and vodka tastings, appetizers, cocktails and exclusive discounts. Tickets are $25.
