For the first time in municipal election history, on Oct. 22, Peel voters will have an opportunity to elect the regional chair.

A candidate information session will cover key information about becoming a candidate for the position. Run by Peel Region and the Ministry of Municipal Affairs, topics will include: the regional chair role and duties; who can run; the nomination process and key dates; general campaign rules; campaign and election finances; candidate and third-party advertiser duties; compliance and enforcement; the voters’ list and proxy voting; scrutineers and recounts.

Registration is not required to attend the session, which is slated for 6-8 p.m. on April 10 at the Peel Region council chambers, 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton.
