This year, Tony Pontes Public School opened its doors to students, staff and community members. Now, they have recently celebrated its official opening to celebrate a successful first year. Families, staff and community members are invited to attend the celebrations.
Located in the Town of Caledon, students and staff at Tony Pontes Public School celebrated the official opening of their new school with a special visit from the school’s namesake and former Director of Education Tony Pontes on May 9.
At the open house, guests participated in the school’s guided tours of the school, captured the school’s milestone at the photo booth, heard from guest speakers, and viewed student creations and student performances.
Guests had the opportunity to partake in the school-wide community art project. Every student and staff at the school has created a ceramic tile in the shape a wolf’s head which symbolizes the school’s mascot, the Tony Pontes Wolfpack. All of the tiles were combined into a series of art installations. Attendees were invited to glaze a wolf to add to the project which will be displayed at the school.
Tony Pontes is Caledon’s first balanced calendar school and one of three across the Peel board.
