More than 1,500 enthusiasts gathered September 19 to participate in Mississauga’s largest cycling event.
Hosted by the City of Mississauga, Mississauga Cycling Advisory Committee and SustainMobility, the anniversary tour focused on attracting families in an effort to increase interest in cycling as an alternate mode of transportation.
Leading up to the event, the City of Mississauga challenged residents to ride their bikes and log kilometres to reach a goal of 150,000 in celebration of Canada150. Since the challenge started, on June 29, residents continue to exceed the mark. In appreciation, the city will plant more than 1,000 trees and invite participants who cycled 150 kilometres or more to a tree planting ceremony.
