September 15 saw the Annual Tour de Mississauga kick off a terrific season of cycling in Mississauga.
The Tour has become a tried and true tradition in Mississauga. Rounding out its 12th year, the Tour is a family-friendly event that has rides for every level of cyclist from five to 50 kilometres. It was a great way for participants to see some of Mississauga’s cycling trails through parks and on City roads, and all riders received free ice cream treats.
2019 Bike Challenge
Mississauga riders are now encouraged to hop on their bikes and help meet the goal of riding 350,000 kilometres before October 25! The Bike Challenge is an opportunity to get out and ride. It doesn’t matter whether it’s to the corner store or to the local park. The more you cycle the more you support our local hospitals, thanks to a generous anonymous community member who is donating $1 for every five kilometres cycled during the Challenge to the Trillium Health Partners. Learn more: mississaugabikes.ca/bikechallenge.
Community Rides Riders can also check out Mississauga’s Community Rides, the perfect way to find a new cycling route or a new cycling buddy. Community Rides range from five to 20 kilometres and are free. It doesn’t matter whether you are new to cycling or experienced, the rides are led by volunteer marshals. The next rides are Sept. 7, 19, 21 and Oct. 5 and 26, each with its own distinct route in Mississauga. Register for free: mississaugabikes.ca/communityrides.
